Via PZ Myers, some good news out of the Anoka-Hennepin School District in Minnesota, notorious for suicides caused by bullying of gender-nonconforming children: The district has pledged better treatment of gay and lesbian students as part of a settlement, and the lone school board member who objected to the settlement has resigned.

Turns out today was World Toilet Day. As blogger Heather Allen says, it's pretty funny until you consider that 2.6 billion people, nearly half of humanity, have no safe and sanitary place to piss and shit.
